I don't normally do this, but I can't sit idly by and watch a sweet, innocent animal suffering. I have to try to help. I'm hoping some animal loving people out there can help me out.
In this case, this is my parent's dog Penny.
She's an absolute sweetheart, the gentlest dog. She's only three years old, but so very loving. I know my parents do love her, but they are hurting too. My mother was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and had to get a colostomy. She was hospitalized for two months (and almost died) which cost my family a lot of money. My father runs his own handyman business, but he's been in quite in a slump with the stress of my mother's health issues and general business downturn. Its been very difficult with my mother's hospitalization and now they are already facing overdue bills, bill collectors and serious issues with the state of their house. I've already had to buy them groceries and provide other support as I can, just to make sure my mother has food to eat (that she will eat), and I've already shelled out for flea medication for the dog earlier this month. But I'm not exactly rich either, and there's a limit to what support I can give and still take care of my own needs.
However, when I was up there this Saturday (Aug 15), My husband went to pet her ear and she yelped. I examined her ear, and found it to be full of yellowish pus. It was warm, and I'm sure there's a raging infection going on in there. She's also got some sores on her body, which may be allergies or some other kind of skin condition. I want to take her to the vet, but my parents simply cannot afford it. My mother is very attached to her, because the dog keeps her company when no one else is around, which is often because my dad is trying to make ends meet. I don't want to end up that they lose Penny, because it would upset my mother when she's already in a pretty delicate mental state. But its obvious that this ear thing has poor sweet Penny in serious pain, and this skin thing makes her terribly itchy. I'm worried its mange.
If I hadn't already had to dish out $500 this weekend for my own cat's vet and husband's car expenses, I would have taken her immediately to the vet. But being that I am flat broke at the moment, and this kind of infection should be treated immediately, I need a bit of help to get the money to get her at least to the vet for evaluation. I'm guestimating the vet visit and first set of treatment will be around $300-$500 CAD, but could be more. I'd also like to get her shots and get her dewormed as I'm pretty sure she's never been either.
If you would like to help Penny get what she needs to get better, please donate via paypal to firstname.lastname@example.org. Anything you can give will help. If there is more raised than what is needed, I will put it aside and use it for Penny's ongoing care, like flea management, grooming, and any ongoing medications she may require to get her healed up. The sooner I get the money, the sooner I can take her to the vet, but they require payment upfront, and I just can't afford to do it without a little help in the time frame I'd like to do it in, nor can I afford to go into more debt to cover it. Without help, it might take me more than a month to get the funds I need together, and I don't want her to suffer that long.
Thank you, in advance, for any help you can give.
